Radio 4 Extra

Recently got very much into Radio 4 Extra. One of the best things they broadcast is the Comedy hour. Some of those old shows bring back great memories and lots of laughs. Sometimes when the announcer says " this show was first broadcast in...." gives you a bit of a jolt. Coming home last night I caught The Ken Dodd Show first broadcast in 1965!! Still very funny even today.

Other shows you may remember include; Dad's Army(with John Snagg reading the credits), The Navy Lark, Men from the Ministry, and Meet the Glums.

It is a pity that Radio 4 Extra does not appear on the BBC iPlayer, so we could really get into a bit of nostalgia and listen again. I am still waiting for "Educating Archie" and the "Billy Cotton Band Show" that were avid Sunday lunchtime listening for me as a lad. But, hey that's giving too much away.
