We're Being Conned

by Andrew the Muse » Tue Feb 09, 2016 11:43 am

The theory - We vote a Government in and they do the best for us that they can.
In practice- the Government does what's best for the MPs and the companies and organisations that support that party

That's the con

Let's dig a little deeper

Voter turnout is on the decrease; 77.6% in 1992, down to 65.1% in 2010
So the Government has nowhere near the support of the majority of the country

Do MP's have our confidence? According to a recent MORI poll:
50% think MPs put their own interests first
72% do not trust MPs to tell the truth
65% think that at least half of MPs use their power for personal gain

Google's Tax avoidance has hit the news recently. So let's look at tax.

It's estimated that Britain's elite avoids paying £25 billion of tax a year.

The poorest 10% pay, 43% of their income in taxes whereas
the richest 10% pay, only 35%.
That can't be right or fair.

In 2014the National Audit Office revealed
that one in five large British businesses paid absolutely no corporation tax in the previous year
and more than half paid less than £10 million.

Many big companies reject the state even though they depend on it and resent having to fund it.
They believe that the state should be grateful simply because they employ people.

Benefit fraud is estimated at £1.2 billion per year
Tax avoidance is estimated at £25 billion per year
Which hits the news the most? Benefit Fraud.
That's because the 'Establishment' determines what news we receive

The NHS is held up as a beacon institution, but is it?

Dr Kailash Chand Deputy Chair of the British Medical Association (BMA) says: “We never had a health service, we have a disease service” Rather than focussing on presentation, fostering healthy lives to prevent expensive health conditions arising in the first place, the NHS is set up to deal with the symptoms of bad health. This is a profitable model for the pharmaceutical companies because treating ill health requires expensive drugs and procedures.

I'm not a political animal but I believe very strongly that we're being manipulated in order to generate income for the Rich/Elite/ Businesses/Companies/Establishment.

If you'd like more detail I'd strongly recommend that you read 'The Establishment' by Owen Jones,
it's currently in the Sunday Times Best Sellers list.

I'd really be interested to hear your views.
Do you think that we're being manipulated and conned
and if so what can we do about it?
