Health Benefits of Tumeric

by Chiedu » Tue Mar 22, 2016 5:14 pm

Tumeric is commonly used in Indian curries and known for its bright yellow colour. It has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for many thousands of years. Tumeric contains several nutrients such as protein, dietary fiber, niacin, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin K, potassium, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium and zinc. Research has shown that turmeric has anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties which can help:

* Arthritis (osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis)
* Bronchitis
* Destroy free radical damage in the body
* Reduce high cholesterol
* Strengthen the immune system
* Relieve swelling and pain

I have used tumeric several times for my son who is prone to chesty coughs. One small cup of golden milk (1/4 tsp tumeric, mixed with milk and honey), makes a huge difference in helping reduce inflammation in the respiratory system and aiding restful sleep.

The active chemical in turmeric is curcumin, which is not easily absorbed into the body, however this can be boosted when combined with the active ingredient in black pepper (piperine).

A really interesting post Chiedu

I have high blood cholesterol and some arthritis
and have been told that Turmeric is good for those ailments
just as you say.

In what form should I buy it for maximum benefit?

Amazon has loads of Turmeric supplements
and I can also go to my local supermarket

Thank you

Brenda I started taking Turmeric a couple of weeks ago
because of the pain in my fingers and knees
which is all basically down to arthritis.

Unbelievably I noticed an improvement after only a couple of days
and the improvements have continued.

Like you I didn't know which brand to buy
In the end I bought my Turmeric tablets from
because they are based in Cambridge in the UK and they have done a lot of research
which I didn't feel was the case with the products that you can buy ion the High Street.

It worked for e Brenda
so why not try Turmeric for yourself
