The Secret the Pharmaceutical Companies are NOT Telling You

by Andrew Krajewski » Tue Feb 23, 2016 11:56 am

In his book 'Teach us to Sit Still', Tim Parks describes how numerous visits to a variety of doctors
had not solved his prostate problem.

While Tim was at a conference in Delhi he visited an Indian ayurvedic doctor.
During the consultation Tim asked the doctor if he thought that his illness was psychosomatic.
The doctor replied: “That assumes that you think that body and mind are separate.”

What a profound statement!

Jump forward approximately 10 years to 2016 to see that
Jo Marchant has just had her book called 'Cure – A Journey into the Science of Mind and Body' published.

In the book Jo discusses the strong evidence that the state of your mind affects the state of your body.

One piece of evidence struck me very strongly,
namely patients that knowingly took placebo drugs felt better.
How is that possible?

Jo cured herself of her headaches.
Coincidentally I too have cured myself of the terrible headaches
that I used to have that could go on for days.

So why isn't the mind-body connection being explored further by medical research?

I suggest that it's all to do with the way medical research is funded.
In America, 75% of the funding comes from drug companies whose only interest is
in selling more drugs in order to make more profit.

Only 0.2% of America's National Institute of Health's $30billion budget funds mind-body research.

This is bad news for us
because it means that our treatment is going to continue to be drugs and operations,
neither of which address the root causes of our illnesses.

In addition just consider the huge savings that the NHS could make if they were to investigate and adopt mind-body techniques.

And in case you're wondering.
Yes, Tim Parks did cure himself of his prostate problem
without resorting to medication or surgery.

Hi Andrew

Interesting Post. I do believe that big drug companies are happy for us to keep paying them
to 'get well', instead of using more natural methods. I am always interested in cures which
do not involve putting chemicals into the body. How did you cure your headaches?

Ann, Hi

Curing my headaches was stupidly easy.

I simply stopped taking headache tablets - Solpadeine Plus was my chosen 'sweet'.

I suspect that I got to the point
that my headaches were being caused by the withdrawal from the Solpadeine
So once I stopped taking the tablets, the headaches stopped coming back.

If I want to be cynical
it's just another example of Big Pharma putting chemicals in their drugs in order to create an addiction.

More recently I've taken up meditation and the philosophy behind that
has given me a more relaxed view of life and it's perceived problems.
So less stress.

And that just confirms to me
the connection between our mind and our body's health
