Cambodia and Vietnam spending money

by flyingdancer » Thu Apr 16, 2015 8:58 am

We're off next month and I'm trying to get some idea of how much spending money to take. From what I've found, I'm thinking £15 for meals and drinks. Can anyone say if that's about right?

I don't want £100 left over but neither do I want to run short.

Hi,

My step-daughter recently travelled throughout Vietnam and Cambodia and suggests that your £15 per day per person budget is about right.

In her experience you can eat/drink on £10 per day well, and a lavish budget would be considered £20pd/pp.

Enjoy your travels and please post pictures on here upon your return.

Regards

Just come back from Cambodia and Vietnam and the budgeting worked out. Cambodia prefers USD and we could get a meal for $3.50 to 4.50 in a road-side restaurant.

Vietnam was about the same but they use the Dong ("Don"). We got 2 million for just over £60. It's a bit of a shock to get a bill for 300,000 at the end of a meal!

Bia Hoi or "fresh beer" is like small beer here. Very weak but safer than the water and we paid as little as 3,000 so cheap as...... water.
