$67 million fine for Big Pharma

by Andrew Krajewski » Mon Jun 27, 2016 5:56 pm

Two drug companies, Genetech and OSI Pharmaceutical,
have been ordered to pay $67 million because
they lied about the effectiveness of a lung cancer drug.

Let's be absolutely clear about this.
They were marketing and selling a drug which they knew to be ineffective.

Clearly they had no interest in curing patients whatsoever or indeed in their welfare.

Big Pharma's only motivation is profit.

The top eleven drug companies generated a net profit of $85 billion in 2012 and
between 2003 and 1012 they generated a staggering net profit of almost three quarters of a trillion dollars.

Earlier this year Johnson & Johnson were ordered to pay Jacqueline Fox's family $72 million.
Jacqueline had dies of ovarian cancer
due to the use of Johnson & Johnson's baby powder,
which they had continued to sell, without any warnings,
even though they knew that it was linked to ovarian cancer.

We trust our GP
but in essence he is only following the advice
given out by Big Pharma's huge marketing/lobbying machine.

Now that really is very scaring.
